In keeping with our cross-platform principles, we try to keep installation of our products as simple and consistent as possible (allowing for certain unavoidable constraints set down by the OS manufacturers themselves).

While we make 'installers' available, all of our desktop software can also be installed by simply decompressing a distribution file and then drag-and-dropping the applications into a folder of your choice. First run of the software will talk you through anything else that is needed.

And for you ICT technicians out there, there are no installation routines, writing to system registries or locking licenses to workstations so if you need to move the software, it's equally clean. Nothing is left behind, so distribution to many terminals in your organisation via image distribution is a breeze.

Pergamon follows a combined OPAC / Management System principle on all terminals - both users and librarians can use the library from any workstation.

While the management areas follow a traditional dialog design which is in keeping with the operating system on which you have your software installed, it is also possible to select one of an ever growing set of themes for your OPAC front-end. You could have a standard theme for your normal school operations, but switch to an alternate theme during project times!

While all of the content of the OPAC screens are safely created within the Pergamon Mu application in real-time, the underlying themes including all graphics, fonts, styles layout and sizes are taken from HTML / CSS templates. They are therefore very easy to create for knowledgable users, and customisable for your organisation and identity.

Pergamon Mu is the first release in the Pergamon Library Management system series of applications, concentrating mainly of Primary School level library operations and organisations that need a similar level of streamlined reader and cataloguing control. This level of Pergamon additionally provides the ability for a certain level of responsibility to be handed to student assistants and volunteers who utilise OPAC based front-end controls to perform management tasks usually reserved for managerial users.

Functionality

Pergamon Mu has streamlined access to:

  • Readship
  • Catalogue
  • Circulation
  • Reporting
  • Import and Export

Circulations is also accessible from the comprehensive search facilities available on OPAC for suitably authorised assistant and volunteer users.

Added Value

While the main functionality provides all of the areas required to run your library environment, the way in which it is done adds value to the experience. All Pergamon applications additionally provide managerial users with control of manager user accounts, administration level functions such as lookup-tables, theme selection, and a built-in support ticket system connecting directly to the Pergamon Hub central support system.

Combined OPAC

Past library management designs require several applications: some small, some large and some ridiculuously huge for the job that they do. Pergamon combines it all into one with a combined OPAC system.
